Why international physicians

Approbation path

Approbation is a federal matter, granted by the federal state examination offices. Three steps are mandatory regardless of the federal state:

• Fachsprachenprüfung: 'patient communication' at the relevant medical chamber
• Kenntnisprüfung: equivalence exam for material differences in studies
• Deficit notice: we analyse, prepare specifically and resubmit
• Berufserlaubnis available in advance: temporary supervised practice during preparation
• Approbation certificate: prerequisite for permanent medical practice

• Which specialties do you place?

  Focus on general medicine, internal medicine, anaesthesia and emergency medicine. Other specialties on request. Programme build-up takes correspondingly longer.

• What is the difference between Berufserlaubnis and Approbation?

  Berufserlaubnis is temporary (up to two years), regionally limited and tied to a specific hospital. Approbation is permanent and valid nationwide.

• Who covers the cost of adaptation measures?

  We negotiate transparently per placement, depending on desired speed, contract duration and complexity of the recognition procedure.

• How long until the first clinical assignment?

  With Berufserlaubnis as an interim step typically 9–12 months. Through to full Approbation 12–18 months, depending on federal state and deficit notice.
